Choose how to take your IELTS test and book online

You can take your test at one of our official test centres on paper or on a computer. All you need is a valid identification document and a bank card if you want to pay online.

  • You can still pay for your IELTS test using your digital bank platform (website or phone App).
  • Ensure sending the proof of payment to this email address: algeria.Information@britishcouncil.org.
  • Your email should contain candidate full name, registration reference number & payer's name (if different from the candidate's name).

 What you need to book

  1. Make sure you have a form of valid ID (passport or national ID card) at hand when you book your test. Please note you will have to present the same passport or national ID that you use for registration on test day. Different, invalid or expired passport or national ID card will not be accepted, and you will not be allowed to sit the test. Please note that candidates under 18 years of age have to supply written consent by a parent or guardian in order to apply for a test place. Please note that IELTS is not recommended for test takers under the age of 16.
  2. Pay for your test: you can pay for your test via bank transfer or cash payment**. For cash payment please click here.
  3. Once you have made the payment, please send us the payment receipt to algeria.information@britishcouncil.org, you will then receive an automatic confirmation. 
  4. Payment deadline is 72 hours from the day you complete your registration. You may be requested to pay your test fee earlier than 72 hours if your booking takes place during the test day week.
**Please note that HSBC is accepting cash deposits at their level.
 
Important:
  • The individual must provide his ID while proceeding with cash deposit (the one used for registration) as a copy will be kept and archived internally.

Important registration information for IELTS on paper 

If you’re not officially a resident in Algeria, you will not be able to sit an IELTS on paper test. However, you can still take the test on computer so please do choose that option.

Already booked an IELTS on Paper test and you do not hold an Algerian nationality? 

If you booked your test before 16 January 2025, you will not need to show proof of residence.

If you booked your test after 16 January 2025, you will need to show proof of residence by email at least three days before your test date.

Acceptable proof of residence includes:

  1. A valid Student Visa (stating purpose, length of visa and expiry date) stamped in the passport.
  2. A valid Work Permit (2 documents) including Visa (stating status and expiry) stamped in the passport and Work Permit card (showing expiry date).

After you have booked your test

You will receive emails confirming:

  • the start time of your test and the venue address
  • your Speaking Test date
  • your access to the free online preparation courses: Road to IELTS Last Minute Version and IELTS Ready: Premium.
