The British Institute for English regularly holds CELTA courses at our teaching centre, right in the heart of Algiers.  Our CELTA courses are run by experienced and talented teacher trainers approved by the University of Cambridge

The CELTA has often been referred to as a passport to the world as it may open the door to many exciting teaching opportunities abroad.  It is an internationally recognised English teaching qualification awarded by the University of Cambridge.

As one would expect of a professional development course at this level, it is highly demanding.  Candidates should have English language skills equivalent to at least C1 of the CEFR or an IELTS score of 7.5.  The CELTA course is currently offered as an intensive, four week, full time course.

The course concentrates on practical aspects of teaching including:

•teaching practice;

•analysis of language, form, meaning and pronunciation;

•techniques for presenting and practising new language;

•techniques to develop speaking, listening, reading & writing skills; and

•using teaching aids.

Trainees are assessed through their teaching practice, written assignments (4) and participation in workshops.
